Enviromite
Insecticides and Acaricides
Enviromite
Enviromite is a patented
revolutionary environmental
product available for the
treatment and eradication
of insects including House
Dust Mites, Fleas, Silverfish
and Cockroaches.
Enviromite is not a poison
or a ‘knock down’ product
but works by desiccation.
The extremely fine particles
of the Enviromite powder
which have a negative electrostatic
charge adhere to the bodies,
and also to the treated surfaces
which would normally harbour
the eggs and larvae of the
insects. Enviromite works
by internal dehydration of
the digestive tract as insects
are prolific groomers and
are prone to ingesting the
powder.
As it does not enter the
cells or circulatory system
of the mite or insects it
does not enable long term
biological resistance to
develop.
If ingested by humans it
has about the same degree
of toxicity as common table
salt. It has no propensity
for causing skin or eye irritation
or sensitisation and it has
no chronic respiratory effects.
If applied correctly Enviromite
is effective up to 6 months
and longer in certain conditions.
It is suitable for use on
all types of carpeting, furniture
and hard floor surfaces.

It has been used successfully
as a domestic product
against fleas and dust
mites in the United
States
for twelve years with
over a million whole-house
treatments to date
without
any reported adverse
effects.

House Dust Mites
Dust mites are cosmopolitan
guests in human habitation.
They flourish in the
controlled environment
provided to them by
buildings. Dust mites
are considered to be
the most common cause
of asthma and allergic
symptoms worldwide.
They can survive in all
climates and require
moisture derived from
human breathing, perspiration,
saliva and organic food
like human skin cells
and warmth to survive.
They thrive in environments
like mattresses, carpets,
furniture and bedding
where they can escape
natural sunlight; the
only known natural killer
of the dust mite.
The average life span
of a female dust mite
is 10 weeks and she will
lay between 60 and 100
eggs. In this 10 week
life span a mite will
produce approximately
2000 faecal particles
and an even larger number
of partly digested enzymes – infested
dust particles.
Dust mites have a rudimentary
alimentary system (no
stomach) and require
most digestion to occur
outside their body. They
secrete enzymes which
pre-digest organic matter
which is then eaten several
times. Between feedings
the particles are left
to decompose further
and ultimately a fully
digested particle will
not be eaten and is deemed
faecal matter.
The average person sheds
about 1.5 grams of skin
cells every day which
is enough to feed roughly
one million dust mites.
The partially digested
food and faecal matter
is one of the most significant
sources of allergens,
implicated in allergic
asthma, rhinitis, conjunctivitis
and dermatitis. |
